This past weekend we were greeted by members of the Surfrider Foundation (Vancouver Island) at Rugged Point. After a long 21 km paddle from Fair Harbour we were invited to their camp for spaghetti and the warmth of a campfire. …the last time I entered the territory of the Ka:’yu:’k’t’h’ / Che:k:tles7et’h’ First Nation in 2013, my kayak was swept away below the high tide line which left me stranded for 3 days on Spring Island. The land and sea is formidable, mysterious and absolute.
