Setting foot on Brooks Peninsula and hand to sand just to make sure it was real! It’s otherworldly on “The Brooks! This Peninsula is the only area of North America that wasn’t covered by the last ice age, say oh I don’t know – about 10,000 years ago. It’s “different” here.

Anyone with even a slight interest in adventure, geography and Canadian history will really enjoy this book. I just finished reading it.¬†Adam Shoalts provides a very interesting and unique perspective on what it took to put Canada on the map. What stood out to me is just how recent all of this took place.
