How the B.C.’s First Nations are trying to save Canada’s wild giants, the Grizzly Bear, and the Humpback Whale, with eco-tourism. This is a touching documentary by Brandy Yanchyk. Much thanks to her, Marven Robinson and Joelene Brown for their continued efforts and for raising awareness. watch.cbc.ca/…e-prize/38e815a-00a5922b618

Overview Johnstone Strait is a 110 km channel along the northeast coast of Vancouver Island. Opposite the Vancouver Island coast, running north to south, are Hanson Island, West Cracroft Island, mainland British Columbia, Hardwick Island, West Thurlow Island and East Thurlow Island. At that point, the strait meets Discovery Passage which connects to The Salish Sea. The passage is between 2.5 km and 5 km wide. It is a major navigation channel on the… Read More

I guess you know where at least I stand on this issue. Thank you to Canadian Wildlife Photographer John E. Marriott for raising awareness on this important issue in British Columbia. Have a look at John’s website and view this short documentary:

I can’t disclose the location nor the name of the individual that informed me as to the location. Locations such as these are disappearing too quickly due to industrial activities. Go to https://www.ancientforestalliance.org/ to find out more.

The true value is painfully obvious!

Go where you need to go, do what you need to do. Whatever it might be to get “that one shot.” Often times you will be surprised with what you had planned and what you end up with. My “plan” was to photograph “Shark Creek Falls” deep within Northern Clayoquot Sound. After paddling my kayak some 40 km’s from Tofino to do so, I got myself and my kayak stuck on the… Read More
