Norris Rocks. This small rocky islet 500 m off the southwest end of Hornby Island is located in the Marine Conservation Area. Winter storm waves break over the islet at high tide. Access is by boat only. Please maintain the required distance by boat, kayak, canoe, paddle-board, etc. to avoid disturbing wildlife. Please do not go ashore. The California Sea Lions are starting to congregate en masse on the barge at the end of the Government Wharf in Fanny Bay. They’re preparing for “the feast” as the Pacific Herring being to run. This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve been to visit. It’s difficult to compose a “natural” image given the barge and such so these couple of images are lent to some significant cropping.

Tonight I got to try out my new Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR. I had a lot of back light and difficult texture and skin color to compose but overall this lens performed fantastic.
